Are you considering setting up an at-home gym? Maybe you are someone who likes to work out but would prefer not to do it in a public space which is understandable at the moment. Before you get started putting your home gym together, though, there are a few safety aspects to keep in mind. Here are a few:

Exercise equipment can be extremely dangerous if not used correctly, but it is especially hazardous if small children get their hands on it. If possible, make sure that the gym is set up in a room that can be locked when not in use. You will also want to make sure that after using equipment such as a treadmill, it is stowed in its locked position and any connected wires or cords are out of reach of any young ones. Keep barbells and weights in a locked cabinet or somewhere that children cannot access.

When designing an at-home gym, try to position exercise equipment in such a way that anyone using it would be able to detect if someone else enters the room. If you are busy working out and a child enters the room undetected, it could result in a serious accident.

Another cause of accidents and injuries is due to people not knowing how to operate a piece of exercise equipment. Make sure that everyone who will be using the gym is educated on how to operate each piece of equipment.
