If you are entering the home buying process for the first time, you may feel more than a little overwhelmed and, no doubt, have many questions. As you may know by now, when you find a house that you want to buy, you should have it inspected. With that in mind, we thought we would answer a few common questions related to home inspections.
Why is it so important to have a house inspected before purchasing it? Simply put, because it will help you to see the true condition of the property. You may get some idea of the shape it’s in when you view the place, but a home inspection will help to reveal the things that you can’t see, which may affect your decision to buy.
How long does the home inspection take? The amount of time a home inspection takes depends on the size of the property and also its location. However, a home inspection will generally take about 3 hours. If you get a home inspection done and it takes significantly less time than that, you may want to be a little wary, as it may not have been done as thoroughly as it should be.
Do you need to be there for the home inspection? You do not have to be present for the home inspection, as you will be given a full report detailing the inspectors’ findings. But you might find it advantageous to be there for at least some of the inspection as it is a good way to get to know the ins and outs of your potential new house.
